Monster Sport is a Japanese brand which focuses heavily on making performance parts for the Mitsubishi Evolution. Great to see that they’re proud of the efforts of Mirco Baldacci, a New Zealand based customer who managed 3rd place in the PCWRC Rally New Zealand.

Buddy club

Justin Fox April 26th, 2007

bc1.jpg

I’m sure the news is getting out there, but I’ve been working full time at Buddy club Australia for a few weeks now (and I’m loving it!). I’ve already made a few print adverts which you’ll be seeing in up-coming magazines such as Auto salon, HPI and Hot 4’s and I’m already tearing apart the web site which was an exact mirror of the American site.

I’m taking the unconventional method of working on it as I go so you’ll see changes there almost daily. If you’re curious you can check out the differences already between the US site and the Aus site. I’ve also included recommended retail prices and applications on all products on the site as well as a page where you can find your closest Buddy club dealer.

Also, if you have a car with Buddy club products on it, please send me an email with photos and some details and I’ll add you to the Buddy club customers gallery!

Import Tuner asks: Is drifting dead?

Justin Fox April 25th, 2007

D1GP

DPImpreza over at Import Tuner has come to the conclusion that drifting – at least at a mainstream level – is dead. With the advent of various professional competitions around the world, and the desperation of companies to associate themselves with this latest of trends, the mainstream appreciation of drifting has apparently cooled quite a bit since it first stepped into the spotlight outside of Japan. Is that a bad thing?

Wallpapers @ HIN City

Justin Fox April 23rd, 2007

HIN City

HINcity.com have got a great collection of wallpapers available for download, though it’s a little disappointing that there’s no 1280×1024 option! A bit odd that they go from 1024×768 to 1600×1200, but them’s the breaks. That’s what Photoshop is for, peeps! Aside from that, it’s a great website for checking out the Hot Import Nights import scene in the US.

Kei Car Picture Thread

Justin Fox April 21st, 2007

kei.jpg

Kei car (K-car) is a Japanese category of small automobiles which are designed to exploit local tax and insurance relaxations, and are exempted from the requirement to certify that adequate parking is available for the vehicle. These standards originated in the times following the end of the 2nd World War, when most Japanese could not afford a full-sized car yet had enough to buy a motorcycle. To promote the growth of the car industry Kei car standards were created. Check out what happens when Kei cars meet JDM Style and Tuning in the Kei Car Picture Thread on our forum.

Honda patents Advanced VTEC (yo!)

Justin Fox April 18th, 2007

Advanced VTEC

Honda have slapped down a patent on an even newer form of their famous VTEC system, called simply Advanced VTEC. Designed to boost fuel economy, increase performance, and lower emission levels, it looks as if it does all the things you’d expect from a system called “Advanced”. VTEC just kicked in even harder, yo.
