This is a question I’ve been asking myself for quite some time now. Why is the idea of sponsoring an event, team or racer such a difficult task for amateur, semi pro and even promising talent?
A talented dirt bike rider who won 70 state titles and at the age of 12 participated in 35 races, with 32 wins, 5 titles on the line and won all of those titles. You might have heard of him, Casey Stoner. Yet with all these wins and potential of being an international success, did Australian business jump on his side and help him along? According to him, not really.

Stripes, numbers, colors, and logos – the graphic visual look of a racecar has to stand out from all the others as they go zooming by. Go Faster is a collection of over one hundred examples of racecar design that documents the carefree anarchy in which they were created.
In the book, colorful racing cars are featured next to blank, white models. Thanks to this juxtaposition, Go Faster not only takes its readers on a breakneck ride through images of racing history, but also shows them exactly how the graphics modulate the look of the vehicle.

Oran Park Raceway was a motor racing circuit at Narellan in southwestern Sydney, Australia. Recently, the land on which the racetrack is on was sold to the Government of New South Wales for a new housing development. This has lead to closure of the track and will end 47 years of motorsport heritage at the facility.

Without racing there is no Honda. The Honda Sports Velocity-010 GT: 1,100kg, liquid-cooled, naturally aspirated V8. Listen to it. I have been for the past 5 minutes, it’s still running in the background. Gah, lovely.

Nismo has confirmed two teams that will field it’s 600hp GT1 car in this years FIA GT championship series.
The teams are Swiss Racing Team headed by Othmar Welti and British team Sumo Power GT led by James Rumsey. Each team will field two cars a piece which means 4 of the 24 GT1 cars on the grid later in the year will be Nissan GT-Rs.
The first race kicks off in May at Silverstone Circuit. More info on this car here although I personally think it looks much better without all the vinyl here. Video here.

Where would we be without Keiichi? A living legend, Keiichi Tsuchiya is a professional racing driver also known as the “Drift King” (otherwise as Dorikin) for his nontraditional use of drifting in non-drifting racing events, and his role in popularising drifting as a motorsport. He’s also known for touge (mountain pass) driving. The car that he uses to drive has become one of the most popular sports cars these days, Toyota AE86 Sprinter Trueno (a.k.a. the “Hachi-Roku” in Japan (hachi-roku meaning “eight six”)).
